Fire District shows their support
Sheridan, OR [February 27th 2017]: Ovens, mixers and icing tips were hard at work in Kitchens across the Sheridan area this weekend and into Monday. Each year the local Cub Scout pack 215 holds a cake auction to support their awards and badges. The cakes are baked and decorated by the cub scouts and their parents and brought to be auctioned off. However for the last four years the Fire District has contributed to the auction by making their own cake.
This year the Fire District and the Sheridan Fire Volunteer Association decided to each make a cake to show their support for the boys and their pack. This year’s theme was “Star Wars” and the firefighters donated a BB-8 Droid cake and a “Death by Chocolate Star.” In the past we have made a “Captain America Shield” cake, a construction site cake, a rodeo barrel racer cake.On top of making cakes to donate the Sheridan Volunteer Association also attends the auction and participates in the bidding. It is always neat to see what the cub scouts and their families have created. The Firefighters love seeing the look on a cub scout’s face as bidders go back and forth trying to buy their cake. It can be hard to pick which of the amazing and creative cakes they want to take home and often the fire fighters will take home at least three cakes. To bring the event full circle we bring the cakes we bought to our next Wednesday drill night and enjoy the tasty deserts. It really makes our personnel happy to know that we can support our youth through such a fun and delicious event. It also is a good way to let people know that we appreciate the support they give us throughout the year.
