Changes at Your Fire Station
Due to budget shortfalls over the past 9 months, we have:
- Reduced staff by 50% and eliminated one administrative position
- Shifted our model from staffing 2 ALS ambulances to staffing 1 ALS ambulance 24/7 with a second medic unit staffed by administrative staff during most business hours.
- Decreased monthly recurring costs.
- Declared extra equipment and vehicles as surplus with plans to sell them
- Continued applying for grants
- Continued working with the Union to decrease costs and educate the public on our financial needs
- Recruited more volunteers and are working to increase the involvement of our current volunteers
- Continued working with Sheridan High School to develop a fire science/EMS technical program
Changes that you may notice:
- A closed sign on the door when administrative staff is out on an ambulance call
- Occasional unanswered phone calls
- An ambulance or engine responding from neighboring communities when our equipment is not available.
We appreciate your patience as we change how we operate so we can work within our shrinking budget. We will do our best to respond promptly and provide the exceptional service our taxpayers have come to expect.
Thank you!
